Living with an illness or a long-term health condition affects far more than the body. It can change your work, your relationships, your plans and how you see yourself. There may be fear, frustration, tiredness, grief for the life you had, or simply the weight of managing it day after day.
Before I became a counsellor I was a nurse for many years, with a particular interest in palliative care, and most recently a Diabetes Specialist Nurse at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. I know something of how illness can affect every part of a life, for the person living with it and for those close to them.
Counselling doesn’t replace your medical care. It offers a space alongside it, where you can talk about what this is like for you, at your own pace.
I also work with people caring for someone who is ill.
I see people face to face in Wymondham and online via Zoom, which some people find easier when energy is low or travelling is hard.
